Tumbled Rock/Pebbles
Tumbled pebbles and rock are by-products of the extraction process. Blocks or boulders that are too small for profile or other use are either broken by a hammer to a certain size, usually 300mm x 300mm and random length or crushed in a crusher to four different pebble sizes.
The sizes range from 10mm to 150mm and are graded into 10mm, 30mm minus, 40mm to 70mm and 70mm to 150mm.
All sizes contain all the colours of the stone extracted from the quarry. The colours include: brown, pink, white, red, grey and salt and pepper. This creates a pleasing look in the garden hardscape.
The smaller pebble sizes are used as fill in between pavers or stepping stones and the larger tumbled stones are used to create a creek bed or river bed effect, e.g. to disguise a stormwater culvert and decrease erosion. Again, the colours create a pleasing landscape.
The boulders that are 300mm x300mm approximately (random DIY-sized), have various uses including building a rock wall. Sandstone is easy to work with and can be reshaped to suit the building of a wall using random shapes and sizes.
Both of the above products are sold in minimum of 13 tonne and are available from the retail outlets listed on this site. |
