Retaining Walls
Ablatio can supply a number of products for building a retaining wall. You can choose from 300mm size random boulders and up to 1m size random boulder.
Random means the size of the boulder is approximately the size nominated but the shape is as the rock is quarried. Therefore the shapes and actual size vary. This results in a rough, rustic rock face look when completed as the rocks are located on top of each other and allowed to settle as they are placed.
For a more formal look you can order rock cut into rectangles or squares. The rocks are cut on the quarry floor using the excavator blade. This leaves a rough cut finish on the face of the block. The size ranges from 400mm x 400mm to 600mm x 600mm. The length can be random (usually 800mm to 1200mm) or cut to 1m. These blocks are more expensive due to the cutting process. You can see examples of our blocks cut to these sizes used in land developments such as Springfield Lakes, North Lakes, Harvey Bay and other developments.
Our range includes blocks with four sides cut by a diamond, smooth finish, with the two ends split on a block splitter which gives a rustic look. The size of these blocks will vary from 150mm x 150mm x 100mm to 300mm x 300mm x 150mm and can be used for a low wall i.e. two blocks high with mortar in between, or garden edging.
These blocks are split from off-cuts from our profiling activities. Blocks can be 'tailor-made' to size. This requires a request for a quote, please complete the enquiries/order form. |
