Lockyer Valley Project

The Lockyer Valley Regional Council have recently completed a multi-million dollar Cultural Centre, made possible through Government grants, which houses state-of-the-art facilities including a new library, art gallery, visitor information centre and cafe, 275-seat conference/meeting room facility and the Queensland Transport Museum. After several meetings between Ablatio and the Lockyer Valley Council, an idea was struck that included locally grown produce within the area,  and some of the history of Lockyer Valley.  Ablatio's stonemason, Daniel Gill, then researched these ideas, and talked to local farmers to get an idea of what would be appropriate. The final result being these magnificent sandstone monuments (pictured), situated adjacent to the new Cultural Centre at Lake Apex, Gatton. The Pumpkins, Bales of Hay and Sack of Potatoes, are all typical of the rural area that is Lockyer Valley. The massive Open-faced book stands tall and inside is a carved image which depicts early settlement farmers and land. The outside cover contains the Council logo and a brief history of the Valley.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a Queensland Goverment and Lockyer Valley Regional Council partnership to support local arts and culture.
