Water Saving Ideas
With the drought situation in South East Queensland,
it could be wise to review some of your gardens and lawns and consider
replacing them with sandstone paving and sandstone tumbled pebbles.
Their use, as an alternative to grass paths,
is an effective way to ease overall water consumption. An added
bonus for using tumbled sandstone pebbles around plants and pots
in the garden is that they help retain moisture, as sandstone absorbs
and holds water well.
Colours in the stone add a decorative effect,
pebbles never need to be renewed and do not attract white ants.
How to Lay Pavers
Laying pavers is easy:
- Start by marking your
footprints on the goat track and that is where you centre
your pavers.
- Dig out the grass or dirt approximately 100mm
larger than a 400mm x 400mm paver
- Tip in some road base and stamp
down with your feet.
- Tip in some sand mixed with cement (4:1
sand to cement).
- Place in the paver to sit flush with the
surrounding surface.
- Tamp down with a rubber
mallet.
- Fill in around
the edges with the grass you dug out or use decorative pebble.
Sit
back and admire your handy work!
